Are Flintstones vitamins safe???

Do you give your kids daily vitamins such as Flintstone’s?  Then you might want to read this post.
Flintstones Vitamins are supposed to be the Pediatrician’s #1 Choice, right?  But do all Pediatricians know the shocking list of chemicals that are in these vitamins?
 Here is their claim:
Flintstones Complete With Iron chewable vitamins for kids help support:*
Flintstones chewables are easy for kids to chew with great tasting flavors and fun character shapes.
A little further digging and I found the ingredients:
INGREDIENTS: Sorbitol, Mannitol, Fructose, Sodium Ascorbate, Ferrous Fumarate, Silicon Dioxide, Carrageenan, Natural and Artificial Flavors, FD&C Red #40 Lake; Less Than 2% Of: Aspartame†, Beta-Carotene, Cholecalciferol, Cyanocobalamin, D-Calcium Pantothenate, dl-Alpha-Tocopheryl Acetate, FD&C Blue #2 Lake, FD&C Yellow #6 Lake, Folic Acid, Magnesium Stearate, Niacinamide, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin, Soy Lecithin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Vitamin A Acetate.
Contains: Soy.
PHENYLKETONURICS: CONTAINS PHENYLALANINE

HOLY **** BATMAN !!!!  Is this for real????
Sorbitol -Sorbitol is used as a sweetening agent and used as a sugar substitute.  The very FIRSTingredient in a children’s vitamin is a sweetener.  Nursing mothers are advised to avoid Sorbitol while pregnant.  It has a laxative effect and excessive amounts can cause bloating, flatulence, diarrhea, cramping and other abdominal problems. The severity of this problem for children is hotly debated.
The Center for Science in the Public Interest feels so strongly about this, they filed a petition to the FDA requesting the following clause be added to labeling, “’NOTICE: This product contains sorbitol, which may cause diarrhea, bloating, and abdominal pain. Not suitable for consumption by children. To protect yourself, start by eating no more than one serving at a time.’
Mannitol – Mannitol is used as a sweetener in food.  It’s also used to treat those with acute renal failure and kidney issues.  It is very close in relation to Sorbitol.  They are both sugar alcohol molecules.
Fructose – again another form of sugar.  Glucose and Fructose are simple sugars.  The body produces glucose, it is vital to life.  Fructose is not.  We do not produce fructose.  Please read this article from Mercola Sugar may be Bad, but Fructose is Far More Deadly
Carageenan – this food additive has been a KNOWN dangerous allergen since 1940, yet it’s still classified by the FDA as “safe for human consumption”?   Yes, this is the same FDA that also approves MSG (linked to brain damage, obesity, and cancer), aspartame (linked to MS, seizures, memory issues, and blindness) and saccharine (linked to many cancers).
Natural & Artificial Flavors – both artificial and natural flavors contain chemicals. The distinction between natural and artificial flavorings is the source of chemicals. Natural flavors are created from anything that can be eaten (i.e animals and vegetables), even if those edible things are processed in the lab to create flavorings.
Most artificial flavorings are derived from petroleum. They have been shown to affect the RNA, thyroid, and enzymes. Most have never even been studied for safety or toxicity.  Take a look at the list of 49 ingredients that make up strawberry flavoring.
One artificial flavor that has been “outed” recently was diacetyl. A research study published in the journal Toxicological Sciences proved that the substance used to flavor popcorn causes a very dangerous lung disease called lymphocytic bronchiolitis.
Artificial Colors  Most artificial colors are made from coal tar, which is a carcinogen.  According to Mercola, com, “Red #40 is the most-widely used and consumed dye.  It may accelerate the appearance of immune system tumors in mice.  It also causes hypersensitivity (allergy-like) reactions in some consumers and might trigger hyperactivity in children”.  Mayoclinic.com also agrees that Red #40 and Yellow #6 may contribute to kids hyperactivity issues.  As of July 2010, the European Union implemented warning labels with foods containing dyes.
Aspartame – another sweetner!  Aspartame is a synthetic combination of the amino acids aspartic acid and l-phenylalanine, and is known to convert into highly toxic methanol and formaldehyde in the body.  Aspartame has been linked to over 40 adverse health effects in the biomedical literature, and has been shown to exhibit both neurotoxicity and carcinogenicity [1]

A little History on Bayer

Bayer is a German pharmaceutical company founded in 1863.  In 1925, it merged with IG Farben, a German chemical industry conglomerate, notorious for it’s roll in the Holocaust.  It is stated that 100%of all explosives and of all synthetic gasoline came from the factories of IG Farben.
It is well documented that IG Farben was closely connected with the Nazis.   During the Nazi takeover of Germany, IG Farben became involved in numerous war crimes.  They collaborated with the Nazi Government to produce and patent large quantities of the pesticide Zyklon B, the chemical used to gas millions of Jews to death in gas chambers.
This is the very same company who is making your children’s vitamins.
I think it’s time we take a closer look and examine what we are giving to our children.  All it takes is a little awareness to see what it going on around us.  We are programmed to see these cute commercials with angelic children living fulfilling, happy lives as long as they take their vitamins.   These commercials are meant to manipulate us to see what they want to see and hide what they don’t want us to see.
Just being aware can produce massive change in the world.  Please don’t turn away and let this continue.  We need to know what we are digesting and how it affects our health.   These are HUGE powerful money hungry companies with very little interest in our health.  The mere fact that the company responsible for the chemicals used in gas chambers is enough for me to never give them another dime.
One person CAN make a difference and my kids health and lives are worth it.  Are yours?

Bottom Line

The chemicals in these vitamins are not only shocking but downright dangerous!  Manufacturers, such as Bayer, often take the stance that the majority of children are not getting the recommended daily allowance of certain vitamins and minerals.  They feel products such as Flintstone’s bridges that gap.
I beg to differ!
The chemicals and additives in these vitamins do more HARM to our little children’s bodies than GOOD.  We must make our voices heard!   I simply cannot comprehend why our Federal Government approved this product, but even worse, our family pediatricians and doctors recommend it.  Thousands upon thousands of kids have taken these vitamins, including my own.
I urgently implore you to write to Bayer and let them know your child’s health is at risk by taking these vitamins!

Chakra

What are the most commonly used essential oils for balancing and healing the root chakra? And what are their properties and how do they help balance and heal the first chakra?

Root chakra essential oils can be used for balancing and grounding.
Located at the base of the spine, the root chakra is associated with survival issues, self preservation instinct, and the fight or flight response.
On the physical level, the root chakra is associated with adrenal glands, the skeletal structure, teeth, large intestine, kidneys, and the blood.
On the emotional level, root chakra imbalance may manifest as anger or rage, fearfulness, frustration, anxiety, and depression.
On the mental level, someone with a root chakra imbalance may experience black and white thinking, pessimism or negative thinking about life.
On the spiritual level, root chakra issues may show up as stubbornness and not willing to expand one's view point.
Essential oils embody the frequencies and healing properties of plants. Not only they deliver certain properties to the physical body, they also work on the mental, emotional and spiritual levels.
The following are the most commonly used root chakra essential oils:

Sandalwood

Sandalwood is considered a sacred oil. Its properties are calming, sedative and antidepressant. Used during meditation it can help to awaken life force energy. Sandalwood is gentle on the nervous system, it calms and harmonizes the emotional body and helps with grounding of excessive root chakra issues.

Myrrh

Myrrh is also considered a sacred oil. This is an uplifting oil that promotes spiritual awareness. This oil helps to build a bridge between the crown and the root chakras. It has a gentle, calming effect on the nervous system, allowing for feelings of safety to arise.
Myrrh brings us closer to our true nature, our essence, grounding us in this truth, and allowing transcendence of the material aspect of the root chakra.

Frankincense

Frankincense, like Sandalwood and Myrrh is a sacred oil, or holly oil in Middle Eastern countries. This is one of my favorite oils. It has a lovely deep, warm, and sweet aroma.
Frankincense has antidepressant and sedative qualities. It is a soothing oil, calming, and like Myrrh, it helps to connect the crown and the root chakras.

Ylang Ylang

This oil helps to cool down excessive root chakra issues, such as agitation and fear. It has a calming effect on the nervous system, eases nervous tension, and is known to be a relaxing and sedative essential oil.

Vetiver

Vetiver bridges the gap between the root chakra and the crown chakra. It is a natural sedative, with grounding and calming properties. Vetiver is my favorite root chakra essential oil for calming down overactive root chakra due to shock or trauma. It may also help promote restful sleep.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon aids the functioning of the adrenal glands, is a tranquilizer and has antidepressant qualities.

Ginger

Ginger is a circulatory stimulant and is useful when someone frequently experiences cold hands and feet. The fight or flight response constricts blood vessels and ginger can be helpful to move blood through the body.

Cypress

Cypress oil is known for its ability to harmonize the blood. This only moves blood and therefore helps to move the vital force, the vital energy, or Qi, through the body. Cypress is also used for strengthening of the blood capilaries.

Carrot Seed

Carrot seed is one of the lesser known or lesser used root chakra essential oils. When used for root chakra balancing, this oil is used as a blood cleanser and a general tonic for the nervous system.

Cedar Wood

Cedarwood, has a wonderful calming, woody aroma. It is used to calm anger and ease nervous tension This oil is also used during the practice of meditation and yoga.
Cedarwood helps with grounding while allowing communication with the higher realms.

Lavender Fun Facts

It's no secret that Lavender is a huge favorite oil (although there are MANY runners up). Did you know that lavender flowering tops are harvested when in full bloom and during the hottest part of the day? Then they are steam distilled fresh to ensure a high ester content. Ester is what gives lavender essential oil its sedative, antispasmodic, anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties!

Ditch dryer sheets

Dryer sheets are terrible not only for you but also for your dryer. They have a coating on them that adheres to the heating elements in dryers and they do not work well. I use wool dryer balls and I can make my laundry smell of any type oil I choose. Smelly gym clothes = purification Uplifting = lemon clean sheets =lavender... so many choices. 4-5 dryer balls for a large load and be sure and put a metal diaper pin in 2 balls to help with static. Lower your drying time also to help with static as the balls help dry clothes faster.

Everything THIEVES

What a week "flu,virus,sickness"

This week has been filled with every sickness imaginable. I also run a childcare in my home and everyday someone else was getting ill. We have been using thieves on our feet along with thieves and purification in the diffuser. trying to keep the family healthy as well..

Nut free oilers

If you have been diagnosed with a peanut or general nut allergy, trying to pick out essential oils and carrier oils can be a bit challenging. Some people can handle almonds and coconut, while others can’t. It’s very important that if you have a nut allergy to know how serious the allergy is (some irritation versus lethal) and how extensive the allergy is (one nut, all tree nuts, all nuts and seeds). Your doctor will be the best source for this!
1301c8201ece3a94feefcf67e46e207b
For those who can still handle almond and coconut oil, as well as shea butter, your options won’t be very limited. The number of products out there made with peanut oil are very few. For those who have problems with these common carrier oils, you are going to struggle more and will need to do some serious investigating before applying different products.
Here’s a list of the products at Young Living that contain almond oil:
  • 3 Wise Men™
  • Acceptance™
  • Boswellia Wrinkle Cream™
  • Cel-Lite Massage Oil™
  • Cinnamint Lip Balm™
  • Dragon Time Massage Oil™
  • Genesis Hand & Body Lotion™
  • GeneYus™
  • Grapefruit Lip Balm™
  • Hope™
  • Into the Future™
  • KidScents® Lotion
  • KidScents® Tender Tush
  • Lavender Lip Balm™
  • Lavender Volume Shampoo™
  • MindWise™
  • Oola Field™
  • Ortho Ease® Massage Oil
  • Ortho Sport® Massage Oil
  • Present Time™
  • Protec™
  • Reconnect™
  • Relaxation Massage Oil™
  • SARA™
  • Sensation Hand & Body Lotion™
  • Sensation Massage Oil™
  • Slique Bars™
  • V-6 Advanced Vegetable Oil Complex™
  • White Angelica™
  • Wolfberry Eye Cream™
  • Wolfberry Crisp™
  • YL Oola Grow™
This is a very small portion of the products that Young Living produces. There are some more products, including several blends, that may have coconut oil. Always read the ingredients list to see if it’s safe for you if you react to coconuts (it will be listed).
So what if you’re one of the unlucky ones who can’t use coconut oil or butter in your DIY projects? Well, there are solutions for you.
1. Grapeseed oil
grape-seed-oil
Grapeseed oil is one of my favorite oils to work with. It’s pretty inexpensive, especially compared to coconut or even almond oils. It also absorbs fast into the skin and has a low chance of clogging pores. I use this in nearly all of my roll-ons and personal blends of oils.

2. Mango butter
Mango-Butter-1-500x399
Wanting to make luxurious body butters, but coconut may just kill you? Grab it’s alternative–mango butter. It has a light fruity smell that can be easily covered with oils if you desire, or you can amplify its own sweetness with some citrus oils. It’s a pricey one to be sure, usually around $18/pound, but it goes a super long way. You can make a whipped body butter with mango and grapeseed to stretch it out more.

3. Olive oil
olive-oil
While not my favorite, virgin or extra-virgin olive oil can be useful for essential oil dilution. My concerns with this oil are three-fold. First, there’s the scent. While it may blend okay with some of your essential oils, you’ll have a hard time truly covering the earthy olive scent. Second, it’s thickness. Olive oil can be very thick and hard to get out of roller-ball applicators. Also, it has a tendency to clog pores, so you have to use it sparingly and I wouldn’t recommend it for the face. Third, it’s absorption. Olive oil takes a l–o–n–g time to absorb into the skin, leaving you feeling greasy for a while. If you need a good massage or have some serious cracked heels to deal with, this oil isn’t a bad choice, but you may need to towel off the excess after a few minutes before getting dressed. However, it is a viable option for many people who cannot use nut-based products.

4. Jojoba oil
Jojoba-oil
This is another expensive oil, but it has a lot of awesome benefits. ðŸ™‚ Jojoba tends to be safe for those with nut allergies (reactions are pretty uncommon) and is amazing for the face. It’s absorption rate is about the same as grapeseed, and like grapeseed, it’s odorless so it is a great base for essential oils. It can be a little difficult finding a source for this oil unless you live in a larger city or shop online, and some retailers don’t stock the better-quality oil (it can turn). Both grapeseed and jojoba have shorter shelf lives than nut-based oils, so buy in reasonable amounts rather than in bulk.

5. Cocoa butter
Cocoa_butter
This is another product that is generally safe for those with nut allergies. I absolutely love this stuff as it’s way more heat-stable than coconut oil (it’s melting point is much higher), so it won’t leak into your purse on summer days. That benefit can also be a disadvantage, though, if you’re looking for a spreadable product, such as a carrier oil stick or a body lotion. However, you can get past this by melting coconut butter with mango or grapeseed oil. It’ll lend much-needed heat stability to your overall mix while still being malleable. Most good types of cocoa butter will smell like white chocolate or a slightly nuttier version. Don’t want this scent? It’s not that hard to cover with essential oils, especially those using more earthy/woodsy scents. I tend to pick lighter oils that work well with the chocolate scent, such as orange or ylang ylang. Then again, I’m a chocoholic. ðŸ™‚ This oil does take a bit to melt down, so be patient and try breaking it up into smaller chunks. If you’re planning on making a lot of recipes with it, it might be worth the time to melt your whole bag into small, pre-measured chunks. I recommend a silicone ice cube tray or silicone molds for this as it can be a little tough to get out of the traditional plastic ones.

6. Pumpkin Seed Oil
pumpkin-seed-oil
Before some of you go, “PUMPKIN!” and start chanting like you do every fall, hold on a second. This medium-weight oil is usually odorless, although you can get some kinds from different sellers that will have a nutty/roasted smell to it. It’s a very dark oil, but it will not stain your skin. It absorbs better than olive oil, though not as well as grapeseed or jojoba. It also has a slight acidic quality, which would be great for those struggling with skin PH or with flaky scalps.
7. Avocado oil
avocado-oil
And all the Californians rejoiced! ðŸ™‚ This is a thick oil, definitely on the fatty side, which makes sense considering the qualities of a whole avocado. It’s aborption is therefore on the slow side, and you’ll want to be careful dressing afterwards if you haven’t worked it in enough or given it a little time. However, it can lengthen the time you can smell the oils you put on your skin, and some people with very dry or damaged hair will love the conditioning effects. I find that even the better brands do have some smell to them, so I’d use stronger/more earthy oils with this one.

8. Hemp oil
hemp oil
Don’t go getting nervous–hemp oil does not have the active properties of marijuana, so you won’t pop positive on a drug test while using this oil. ðŸ™‚ That being said, it’s not always available in all areas due to its source, so be sure you know if there are any legal issues involved before you invest in a big bottle. It’s very similar to avocado oil in color, thickness, and absorption, and does have a bit of a plant-like smell. Again, this may be better for stronger, earthy oil combinations.
9. Sunflower oil
Sunflowerseedoil
Sunflowers just make you happy, right? ðŸ™‚ These seeds, beyond being delicious and a popular snack, also provide a very healthy oil. It is more on the fatty side, though not as much as olive or avocado, and has no scent in the better brands. It’ll work well for most of your blends, but if you have sensitive skin (particularly on the face), this may be just thick enough to cause some pore blockage.

10. Flaxseed oil
flaxseed_oil
Flaxseed is a little pricier and thicker than grapeseed, but it has nearly the same qualities otherwise. It’s good for the skin except for the most sensitive people (use it sparingly if you’re concerned), is odorless, and the price point isn’t too bad. It’ll work well with roller-ball applicators and many recipes.

While this isn’t an exhaustive list, it’s a good start on the options you have as someone with a nut allergy. Be sure to ask your doctor if your allergy includes seeds, as many of these oils are seed-based.
I hope this helps you get “carried” away with your essential oils in a safe manner!

2 DROPS IN THE LAUNDRY = FABULOUS
GUIDELINES FOR THE SAFE USE OF YOUNG LIVING ESSENTIAL OILS
1. Always keep a bottle of V-6 Vegetable Mixing Oil, Massage Oil Base or any pure vegetable oil handy when using essential oils. Vegetable oils dilute essential oils if they cause discomfort or skin irritation.
2. Keep bottles of essential oils tightly closed and store them in a cool location away from light. If stored properly, essential oils will maintain their potency for many years.
3. Keep essential oils out of r...each of children. Treat them as you would any product for therapeutic use.
4. Do not use essential oils rich in menthol (such as peppermint) on the throat or neck area of children under 30 months of age.
5. Direct sunlight and essential oils. Lemon, bergamot, orange, grapefruit, tangerine, White Angelica, and other citrus oils may cause a rash or darker pigmentation if applied to skin exposed to direct sunlight or UV rays for 3 to 4 days of use.
6. Keep essential oils away from eye area and do not put into ears. Do not handle contact lenses or rub eyes with essential oils on fingers. Oils with high phenol content – oregano, helichrysum, cinnamon, thyme, clove. Lemongrass, bergamot, Thieves and ImmuPower – may damage contacts and irritate eyes.
7. Pregnant women should consult their healthcare professional before using essential oils containing constituents with hormone-like activity, such as clary sage, sage, tansy, juniper, and fennel.
8. Epileptics and those with high blood pressure should consult their healthcare professional before using essential oils. Avoid using hyssop, fennel and Idaho tansy oils.
